Feauturecast From The Past Reflection

Specific Concepts Learned:

1. One concept I learned about was the 1963, Birmingham, Alabama Children's March; the mass walk-out of school protesting Martin Luther King Jr.'s arrest. One current event (that I believe was) influenced by the Children's March was a similar mass walk-out of school in southern California, protesting immigration (immigartion legislation).

2. Another concept I learned about was the Vietnam War protests, where most college-aged (and younger) youth protested the current Vietnam War because they didn't believe that American troops should be in Vietnam and that the armys were drafting youth sometimes against their will. I believe that the protests somewhat helped the Vietnam war, helping the Americans realize that it is not good that we are involved in the Vietnam war and that we should work towards peace.

Challenges:

There were two main challenges that I faced during this project were; one, finding internet and piriodical sources and two making (and saving) my article in Pages. I had overcame my challnge of finding internet and periodical sources, by asking my partner for internet sources and being more specific in my "Google" searches and asking Ms. Staff and my classmates for help finding periodicals. For my struggles with Pages, I solved them by saving my work in multiple places so I wouldn't loose my work and by coming in before school to work on it, and aksing for help on the project when I needed it.

Real-world Significance:

The real-world significance of learning major events and their connection is that it is vital to know history facts for future school references and if you want to go into a field of study where American history is involved, that can help as well. Researching is also a wonderful habit to get into and can help you with future projects for school and work because, then you will have and know how to get great, accurate information to use and incoorperate into your work.
